Schalke: Coke back by February

Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel says former Sevilla right-back Coke will have recovered from his cruciate ligament injury by February.

Coke broke down with ACL damage during his Schalke debut last Thursday, in the same week that he completed his €5m transfer from Sevilla, and he is now set to spend the next six months on his new club’s treatment table.

“It’s at least a fissure in his cruciate ligament. It’s badly damaged,” Heidel told Bild.

“At the latest, he’ll be back in February, although hopefully it can be before.”

However, it is not yet known whether the 29-year-old will have to undergo surgery, although an announcement is expected soon.
