Javier Mascherano suggests his contract negotiation with Barcelona wasn’t straightforward but ‘some things were invented and exaggerated.’
Barca announced in late July that the Argentine would extend his stay at Camp Nou after rumours earlier in the summer he wanted to leave for Juventus, but Mascherano has said he and the club are on the same page.
“I won’t lie, there were things in the negotiation, but others were enlarged and exaggerated. It’s always important and more so at my age and how long I’ve been at the club to have things clear,” he said, AS reports.
“If I serve the club and vice versa then I have to be thankful to the club and that’s what comes to mind at this time, it’s what makes me happy, to know they think I can keep contributing but the club should feel the freedom of being able to choose. Today I’m ready to give the season the ultimate dedication.”
