Sevilla signing Wissam Ben Yedder confirms he ‘had other offers’ but felt the Europa League holders were his best option.
Ben Yedder was linked with a move to Premier League Arsenal before accepting a move to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, and acknowledged at his presentation that there was interest from elsewhere.
“I know Sevilla is a great club, fighting for all the trophies they play for. I come to replace a player very important to the hearts of the Sevilla fans, Kevin Gameiro, and it’s not going to be easy,” Ben Yedder, bought from Toulouse, noted, AS reports.
“It was the best choice for me, to come to Sevilla, despite having offers from other teams. Coming here is the best for my career and my evolution. I want to do at least the same as Gameiro, and, maybe, improve on it.”
Ben Yedder has taken the No 12 shirt, worn with distinction by Frederic Kanoute, and Ben Yedder admitted having that number is meaningful.
“He was a very important player for Sevilla and accomplished many things. It’s an honour for me to wear his number,” he added.
