Atleti offering Vietto for Gameiro?

Atletico Madrid hope to exploit Sevilla’s interest in Luciano Vietto by using the forward to lower the price of their objective, Kevin Gameiro.

AS reports that while Atletico are keen on getting a forward in they’re not rushing anything, though Gameiro has emerged as the preferred candidate of the Champions League runners-up.

Sevilla meanwhile have taken a shine to Vietto and though the Europa League holders say Gameiro won’t leave for anything less than his €40m clause, Atletico hope to use Vietto as a way of changing that stance.

Atletico have already loaned Matias Kranevitter to Sevilla and Sevilla want Vietto as well but don’t see the Gameiro operation as entwined with that of the Argentine.

It’s also not known if Atletico would loan Vietto to Sevilla or sell, but if they did sell a buy-back option would be included as they don’t want to entirely lose their grip on the 22-year-old, as he’s still considered a player who will develop into a star.

If Atletico do end up paying top dollar for a striker then one or all of Borja Baston, Oliver Torres and Vietto will be sold to account for the expense, as they are each in demand and Atletico will hold out for the best offer.

Atletico have also not given up on getting Diego Costa back from Chelsea as despite the Blues’ insistence the Spain international will stay at Stamford Bridge, he’s said to be desperate to return to Vicente Calderon.
