Perez backs James, Zizou has doubts?

James Rodriguez retains the support of Real Madrid President Florentino Perez but Zinedine Zidane has his doubts.

The Colombia international had a disappointing second season at Santiago Bernabeu and AS points out that Zidane showed the team could succeed without him, Madrid winning the Champions League at a time when James had fallen far down the pecking order.

Perez however feels James has a lot of talent but also generates significant advertising revenue, and having cost €80m it’s important for Madrid to get a return on their investment.

There’s also concern about his prone-to-dislocation shoulder and Colombia Coach Jose Pekerman said during the summer’s Copa America that James would need surgery and Madrid had already been informed.

However, James declined to have surgery and has been on vacation in Miami, where he has been spotted playing beach volleyball despite his problem joint.
