Jesus Gamez’s time at Atletico Madrid appears up following the signing of Sime Vrsaljko and he’s linked with Rafa Benitez and Newcastle.
AS notes Atletico will have to trim their squad before the start of the season as they currently have 36 players with the first team now players loaned out last season have returned, and that could rise to 37 once Diego Jota is confirmed.
Gamez would appear to be one of the dozen players who will have to find new homes and a move to Newcastle, who next season play in the Championship, England’s second tier, is floated by AS.
It’s also pointed out that Atletico’s 37-man squad doesn’t contain the striker Diego Simeone has been asking for, so the number of players set to move on will be significant.
