Paraguay starlet confirms Madrid move

Paraguayan starlet Sergio Diaz has confirmed that he will be joining Real Madrid this summer after referencing the move on social media.

Diaz only turned 18 in March but has already represented Paraguay’s Under-23 team at the recent Toulon Tournament, and he leaves Cerro Porteno having scored 13 goals in 52 appearances.

“I’m very grateful to the club that gave me everything, Cerro Porteno,” he wrote on his official Instagram account.

“I’m grateful to my teammates and fans who always banked on me in the good and bad times.

“Today I take a big step, but it’s just the beginning and I have to take advantage of it.

“It’s a dream for me and I’m grateful for the effort I’ve made to get this far, all those training camps and difficult games I’ve had to fulfil.

“Today I can say that the effort I’ve always put in has borne fruit, and above all I always have God with me on my way. This is all thanks to you and my God.

“I’ll miss Cerro a lot and training every day with my friends and colleagues [at the club].

“I must also thank my new club Real Madrid for trusting me and giving me a great opportunity to show my game in Europe.

“I will give everything for the club that I’ve always wanted to play for, and now they’ve given me this great opportunity. Thank you.”
