Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo has discussed the club’s search for a striker with Carlos Bacca, Gonzalo Higuain and Diego Costa mentioned.
Los Colchoneros have been linked with a multitude of names to bolster Diego Simeone’s attacking options and they were put to Cerezo when he spoke to AS, who asked about contact over Bacca, Higuain and Costa.
“Rest assured, there’s a lot of summer left. I can only say that those who come will be important. We’re working to bring the best and we will bring the best. But stay calm,” Cerezo said, before addressing Fernando Torres’ new contract and the time it is taking to settle.
“It is what it is. It’s awaiting the loose ends and there’s no problem. It’ll be done soon. Everything is calm and well organised.”
Jose Gimenez’s reported suitors at Real Madrid were also remarked on, as was the club’s policy of tying down its key players.
“Madrid like Gimenez? So do I. It’s all hypothetical. Most players have had offers in the millions. So we had to make a great economic effort to keep the spine of the team here,” he acknowledged.
