Gerard Pique took a swipe at Barcelona’s critics as the club celebrated their La Liga and Copa del Rey double at Camp Nou.
A fiesta was held with the coaching staff, squad and supporters present and after Luis Enrique and Andres Iniesta had spoken, the microphone was given to Pique.
“I just wanted to thank you all for your help this year and in Madrid in the Cup final. It’s been a tough year, as the Coach said, but we have met our objectives and we are happy,” AS quotes Pique as saying.
“And one more thing, for those who complain because was played many times against 10 men. It turns out it was us who played with 10 [on Sunday] and what happened? We won again. Visca Barcelona and Visca Catalunya.”
Pique was referencing Javier Mascherano’s red card against Sevilla, the Argentine dismissed after 36 minutes, though Sevilla also went down to 10 when Ever Banega got his marching orders, with the game at 0-0, and ended the tie with nine player after Dani Carrico’s two quick bookings.
