‘The best answer to Pique…’

Nacho believes Real Madrid’s best reply to Barcelona’s Gerard Pique would be to win the Champions League.

Pique has been accused of frequently stirring the Clasico rivalry and Nacho, speaking as he and his brother promoted Project Lifesaver, a scheme that provides defibrillators to schools, questioned the Catalan’s motivation.

“He likes to talk, we know how he is. He always says he really likes the rivalry between Madrid and Barca. He’s always knocking Madrid and I don’t want to get involved in that,” Nacho noted, AS reports.

“I don’t know why he’s talking about trophies when on May 28 it’s us who are playing for the most important trophy of the season. We’re focused on ourselves. The best answer to Pique is to win the [Champions League] final. That would answer a lot of things, especially with how important it is for us.

“In the end every question is about Pique. He always does things like [allegedly mimic Cristiano Ronaldo during Barca’s title parade] so that Madrid react. We’re calm, they can do whatever they want and we are focused on our work.

“It’s the final of the Champions League, the toughest competition. We all know Atletico Madrid have great players and to beat them would be very nice. We’re very confident. There are no favourites. I wish all the finals were between two Madrid teams. That would be nice. Of course, I’m proud.”
