Tiago Mendes has signed a new contract with Atletico Madrid while Saul Niguez’s contract clause is reportedly set at €80m.
Saul renewed on Wednesday with Atletico, signing a five-year deal, and AS reports that along with an increase in his wages, his escape clause has almost doubled, from €45m to €80m, amid interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Marca, meanwhile, confirms Tiago has been given another year at Vicente Calderon, having returned from a broken leg in the final game of the League season against Celta Vigo.
“His continuity is good news. He’s a player who gives us a lot of experience on and off the pitch, which means he is much-loved by his peers and the fans,” Atleti sporting director Jose Luis Caminero said.
“He’s vital for our team and is a fundamental pillar of the group.”
