Buffon: CL justice for Atleti

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes Atletico Madrid deserve a Champions League success after heartbreak in their two previous finals.

Atletico face Real Madrid in Milan on May 28, having lost to the same opposition at the same stage two years ago, when they conceded a late Sergio Ramos equaliser and went on to lose 4-1.

Los Colchoneros were also beaten in their first final, in 1974 against Bayern Munich, conceding another late equaliser and being routed in a replay, 4-0.

“If there is justice in sport, Atletico will win. They lost in a very unlucky way two years ago. I believe very much in the opportunities you get for sporting revenge. It will be a difficult challenge, because Madrid have more experience in these games,” Buffon said, AS reports.

“Favourites? Real Madrid, but Atletico, for their organisation and tenacity, they’re the most difficult team to beat. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were to win. I didn’t like how they lost the last final, because they were very unlucky. Atletico will have their fangs out and Madrid will have to sweat a lot to beat them.”
