Sanchez Flores to leave Watford

Watford have announced that Coach Quique Sanchez Flores will leave the club, despite the Spaniard leading the Hornets to Premier League safety.

Sanchez Flores was only appointed Watford boss last summer as part of their preparations for their first season back in the English top flight and comfortably guided them to a mid-table finish, plus a FA Cup semi-final.

However, a statement on the Hornets’ official website reads: “Watford Football Club can confirm that Quique Sanchez Flores will leave Vicarage Road at the end of the season following the Sunderland game this weekend.

“We would like to thank Quique. He and the team achieved the target set them at the start of the season of staying in the Premier League for a second year.

“Quique leaves with all our best wishes for the future and the knowledge he is always welcome at Vicarage Road.”

The former Getafe, Valencia and Atletico Madrid trainer has been linked with a return to Los Che, who have yet to make a decision on Gary Neville’s permanent successor.
