Getafe will extend Juan Esnaider’s contract for another season if relegation is avoided, President Angel Torres has confirmed.
AS reports Esnaider was given only the final six games of the season when he replaced Fran Escriba, but Torres has said that if the drop is averted, the former striker will get a longer deal.
“If we stay up, Esnaider continues as Coach. It would be well deserved,” he is quoted as confirming.
El Geta are one of a clutch of sides on 35 points with two games to play, going into the penultimate round second bottom but level with Sporting Gijon and Rayo Vallecano, a point behind Granada and four back on Deportivo La Coruna. Getafe host Sporting on Sunday.
