Real Madrid hope Karim Benzema will be fit for the Champions League semi-final second leg against Manchester City after he was injured in the first leg.
Benzema had to go off at half time with what AS reports was a hip problem, not a relapse of the muscle injury that threatened his involvement originally.
He won’t feature this weekend against Real Sociedad in an attempt to recover for City’s visit to Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, the first leg having finished goalless.
Zinedine Zidane is facing something of a striker shortage against La Real as not only is Cristiano Ronaldo out of the contest, but so too is Jese, who replaced Benzema on Tuesday.
AS adds Jese has a ‘nasty’ bruise on his shin that will almost certainly prevent him being involved at Anoeta, and is likely to miss out so he can be fit for City.
