Fernando Torres insists Atletico Madrid retain the hope of beating La Liga leaders Barcelona to top spot after downing Athletic Bilbao.
Torres netted in the first half and Atleti held on for the victory that keeps them level on points with Barca, the striker adding that he’s happiest about contributing to the team than any individual glory.
“We continue to believe. The best way is to win and see what happens in the next few days. We’ve played the game we expected and we knew we were going to be pushed back,” El Nino said, AS reports, after scoring for the fifth straight League game.
“They are a good team. I was fortunate to get the goal that allowed us to play the game we needed. It was the most important game as it was the one before us. We’re still in a very positive line for results.
“I’m happy because my goals are getting the team points, and we will go step by step.”
