Lucas: Spain? We’ll see…

Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez didn’t reject the possibility of representing Spain at international level.

Lucas was born in Marseille but is eligible for La Roja and has spent his entire career at Vicente Calderon, signing at the age of 11 and making a senior debut in 2014, but is a France youth international.

“Play for Spain? We’ll see. It’s a complicated decision and until I play for the senior international team anything can change. Spain has given me everything. I’m grateful to Spain. If I play for Spain or not is a personal decision,” he said, AS reports.

Lucas played his part in Atletico’s 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday, replacing the injured Diego Godin, and he was content with the victory.

“We’re happy to keep adding points and be at the top. This is a complicated ground, we have finals left and we’re going to give everything. Malaga is next,” he added.
