‘Depor don’t owe Barca’

Deportivo La Coruna Coach Victor Sanchez takes issue with the suggestion his side owe Barcelona after the final game of last season.

Victor’s team went to Camp Nou needing favourable results to avoid relegation and got them with a 2-2 draw as Eibar lost and went down, though they were saved by Elche’s implosion, with Barca having already sealed the title.

“No one owes anything to anyone. Things are won on the pitch,” Victor told a Press conference, as Barca go to Riazor needing a win to safeguard their position at the top of the table after a run of five games without a win.

“It is very tight. There’s a lot of equality and I wouldn’t dare make anyone favourites. The percentages are divided and although in Spain we have a tendency to talk of Barca and Real Madrid, watch out for Atletico Madrid, who are highly competitive.”
