Michel leaves Marseille

Former Real Madrid and Spain midfielder Michel has left Marseille, with the club struggling in Ligue 1.

A statement on Marseille’s official website says Michel has been ‘suspended’ due to his behaviour over the past three weeks, but AS report he has in fact been let go, having been appointed last summer.

Marseille are currently 15th in Ligue 1, having lost on Sunday to Monaco and not won since beating minnows Granville in the Coup de France in early March. Their last League win came in early February and with four games to go they are six points clear of relegation.

Michel, who played more than 500 games for Los Blancos, has also had the bench at Rayo Vallecano, Getafe, Sevilla and Greece’s Olympiacos.
