Luis Suarez felt Fernando Torres committed ‘two severe fouls’ to get sent off as Barcelona beat Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Torres opened the scoring in the quarter-final first leg but was sent off before half time, Suarez netting twice after the break to tip the balance towards Barca ahead of next week’s second leg.
“[The red card] was crucial. Everyone knows the quality of player he is,” AS quotes Suarez saying regarding Torres’ red card.
“He committed two severe fouls. It was a shame because it would have been nice to be 11 against 11.”
Suarez – who himself some felt could have seen red for kicking out at Juanfran – added that he fully expects a challenging encounter at Vicente Calderon.
“Knowing it’s going to be a difficult game we were able to score another goal. They’re obliged to score there,” he noted.
“It will be a similar game to today but we have to be calm and they have the obligation to win. If we score a goal they have to score two.”
