Athletic Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz has been named La Liga’s Player of the Month for March.
Aduriz spearheaded Athletic to three victories in four League games last month, playing 303 minutes out of a possible 360 and scoring a hat-trick in the 4-1 win against Deportivo La Coruna.
Justifying his right to the award, La Liga’s official website “recognises Aduriz’s impressive work in the Basque side’s attacking department, his professional character on the pitch and his unwavering eye for goal”.
The 35-year-old’s efforts at club level were also recognised by the Spanish national team, whom he represented during the international break, scoring as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Italy.
However, he missed a penalty in Athletic’s 1-1 draw with Granada on Sunday as Los Leones fell nine points behind Villarreal in the race for fourth place.
