Spain urge Del Bosque to stay

RFEF President Angel Maria Villar has expressed his desire for Vicente del Bosque to stay on as Spain Coach beyond Euro 2016.

Del Bosque has regularly hinted that he plans to retire after the showpiece event in France this summer, amidst a lack of serious candidates to succeed him, and Villar made it clear he wanted the Coach to change his mind.

“Del Bosque has been clear and for the good of football I want him to continue,” he told reporters in Oviedo, Marca reports.

“[On draws with Italy and Spain] we faced a [renowned] footballing nation in Italy" and a very strong team in Romania, both of whom also like to play football.

“I don’t know any football team in the world who don’t have ups and downs.”
