Everton target Valencia’s Domenech?

Everton manager Roberto Martinez could turn to Valencia goalkeeper Jaume Domenech as he looks to replace long-serving Tim Howard.

It’s been confirmed that Howard will head to MLS in the summer, ending a 10-year Goodison Park career, to sign for Colorado Rapids.

Super Deporte suggest Domenech is one of the options the Toffees are considering, along with Watford’s Heurelho Gomes, Marco Sportiello of Atalanta, Marseille’s Steve Mandanda and Chelsea’s Asmir Begovic.

Reports from the British Press are cited for Everton’s interest in the players as well as Domenech, who faces competition at Mestalla from Mat Ryan and Diego Alves, while if he went to Merseyside he would compete with ex-Atletico Madrid man Joel Robles.

Valencia are though said to be keen to extend Domenech’s contract as they value him for the future, and he could be given the gloves for next season.
