Luciano Vietto admits Atletico Madrid didn’t want Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final but ‘we’ll do everything possible.’
La Liga’s top two were paired in the competition’s last eight and Vietto told AS that it was the draw Atletico hoped to avoid.
“Barcelona are the team we didn’t want to face but we have to play the opponent and we’ll do everything possible to get to the next round,” he added.
Vietto is currently with the Argentina squad for World Cup qualifiers, but acknowledged thoughts of this summer’s Copa America centenary tournament.
“It’s always special to wear the Argentina shirt. I’m thinking of these two qualifiers, and hopefully I can be at the Copa America,” he continued.
