Neville: Valencia won’t give up

Gary Neville has “given his word” that Valencia will not give up on the rest of the season, despite their only hope of silverware vanishing on Thursday.

Valencia were dumped out of the Europa League by Athletic Bilbao at the last-16 stage, albeit only on away goals as a 2-1 second-leg victory was not enough to cancel out a 1-0 defeat, but Neville vowed his side would do their outmost to finish as high as possible in La Liga.

“I can honestly give you my word that we won’t give up,” the Coach said after the game.

“I guarantee it. We have nine games ahead and we’ll make the fans feel proud.

“We’ve seen two sides to the team in the last four days. You [journalists] can see the difference between Sunday’s game and [Thursday].

“We won all the [loose] balls and worked harder. There’s talent at this club and [on Thursday] they showed a level of intensity which must be shown in our games.”
