Constantin Galca felt Espanyol could have wrapped up the win over Rayo Vallecano sooner, but was still delighted with three ‘very important’ points.
The victory takes Los Periquitos five points clear of the relegation zone and Galca after the final whistle commended his team.
“It’s a very important game for us. The team has competed, with class,” he remarked, Marca reports.
“After scoring the first goal the counter-attack became more open and we had a lot of clear chances. We couldn’t kill off the game, but I’m happy for the players.
“Hernan [Perez] scored a golazo and I’m very happy for him because he needed it.”
