Rubi wary of bare bones Madrid

Levante Coach Rubi accepts this might be a good time to play Real Madrid as Zinedine Zidane copes without a host of players, but ‘we must be careful.’

Madrid go to Levante without Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, either suspended, injured or not yet fit, but Rubi told reporters it’s not as simple as that.

“It’s a double-edged sword. Everyone knows they’ve got absences, but sometimes the ones that replace them want to seize their opportunity,” he said, AS reports.

“We have to be careful because we can’t think it will be easier because the opponent is without some players.

“It’s not a special motivation to face Madrid [as a Catalan]. Beating Madrid is complicated. What’s clear is you have to take the chances you create. We won’t have 10 chances. I’m convinced we can beat Madrid.

“I don’t know if they’re more dangerous [for losing to Atletico Madrid]. They’re always dangerous. With that squad and those players…”
