‘No luck for Levante’

Rubi bemoaned Levante’s luck after a good showing against Real Madrid brought only a 3-1 defeat.

Les Granotes matched Los Blancos for much of the fixture but couldn’t capitalise on their good chances, the Coach pointing to the first half in particular.

“We knew we weren’t going to maintain the initial rhythm. It’s a shame. The team isn’t having a shred of fortune. Just look at the second goal,” AS quotes Rubi as saying, citing the goal that came from a Borja Mayoral shot, off the post and off goalkeeper Diego Marino.

“Sometimes maybe the team lacks another gear, but we miss a speck of luck. I don’t think my players go to a game without wanting to win.

“We leave with our heads held high. We had chances to level. We have to win [at Real Sociedad] and hopefully not let up the pace because now we play our rivals.

“Granada in week 35 last year had 25 points and were saved. Every game is a new opportunity. Today we believed but now, yes, we hope to score three points at Anoeta.”
