Zidane: Ronaldo issue in the past

Zinedine Zidane attempted to move on from Cristiano Ronaldo’s post-Madrid derby comments. ‘He has spoken with everyone.’

Ronaldo, in an angry exchange with the Press, appeared to suggest that if the rest of the Real Madrid team were at his level, they’d be top of the Primera rather than third, but quickly explained he meant only that injuries had robbed the team of its best players.

“Cristiano has spoken with everyone. Myself and everyone,” Zidane confirmed at a Press conference to preview Madrid’s Levante game.

“The issue is already in the past. We know how important Cristiano is and we’re with him.

“The issue is settled. What’s important is what lies ahead and we move forward, all of us together, inside, not outside.”

Zidane admitted there was disappointment after losing to Atletico Madrid but urged the team to consider the 1-0 home defeat as just another game.

“It’s a lost game, nothing more. We expected something else but that’s it. It’s gone, we can’t think about it. We have to look at what lies ahead. It’s hard but we can’t think about the past.”
