Jackson Martinez suggests he struggled to make it at Atletico Madrid because of the different style of play than at Porto.
The Colombia international was a big-money signing from Porto in summer 2015 but left Vicente Calderon in February, joining China’s Guangzhou Evergrande.
“Porto played one way and Atletico played another. It was more defensive,” he said, AS reports.
Jackson made his Asian Champions League bow in midweek without scoring, and said even the best players in the world need the support of their teammates.
“I want to score a lot of goals and help the team but even the best players in the world need their peers,” he argued.
“The players here are very attentive to the instructions of [Coach Felipe Scolari] and have very good individual skills.”
