‘Atleti tried everything’

Filipe Luis felt Atletico Madrid tried everything to get a first leg lead over Champions League opponents PSV Eindhoven.

As it was the tie finished goalless in the Netherlands and the left-back said after the match that the equation is simple for the return next month.

“We have to win at home, there’s no other way. A draw is worthless to us,” AS quotes Filipe as saying.

“We all have the hope of qualifying. We’ll fight to make it happen. We’ll try out hardest.

“We ran, we tried everything but it we didn’t have enough in front of goal. They did a good job. We’ll try to get to the quarter-finals.”

Atletico’s goals have dried up in recent weeks, a fact acknowledged by the Brazilian.

“It’s true it’s costing us a lot to score but we created chances in the first half. We had two very clear chances. We’re alive for the second leg.”
