Neville ‘never stopped believing’

Gary Neville insisted Valencia “never stopped believing” during their nine-game winless run in La Liga after Sunday’s 2-1 win at Granada.

Goals from Dani Parejo and Santi Mina extended Los Che’s winning run to three games and moved the side to within seven points of the Europa League places, and the Englishman felt the victory signalled a “change in the mood of the dressing room”.

“[The win] has changed the mood of the dressing room, but we must keep working,” he said after the game.

“We could’ve gone 2-0 up in the first half, but Granada pressed us a lot after the break and I didn’t like how we granted them chances, as happened in the last 20 minutes.

“Still, it’s a very important victory and we must seize these moments when they arrive.

“It’s very difficult to win away from home in a League like the Spanish one.

“I feel pleased, rather than liberated [about a third straight win].

“We never stopped believing [through the bad times], and now we must continue working and not step back.”
