Paco hails ‘outstanding’ Rayo

Paco Jemez was full of praise for his “outstanding” Rayo Vallecano side after Saturday’s 2-0 win against Las Palmas.

Goals from Miku and Bebe fired Los Vallecanos to a fourth game without defeat as they continued their climb up the table, with two points now separating them and their opponents, and the Coach challenged his side to use the performance as a marker for the rest of the season.

“I’d have been happy, regardless of the outcome, for our work and play,” he said after the game.

“I enjoyed the match and, believe it or not, had fun watching the team play and defend.

“It’s another step forward in the second half [of the season] and I’m satisfied.

“I think the work the team did was outstanding and it’s what we have to base ourselves on.

“We must seize this hot run so we can move into a more comfortable situation.

“Now people are saying we’re better and conceding fewer goals, but the team also played well when they lost.

“I don’t intend to focus on just the result [in my appraisal], but everything the team do.”
