Del Bosque: I’d have won more at Madrid

Vicente Del Bosque believes he would have delivered more silverware to Real Madrid, including the Champions League, if he hadn’t been sacked.

The Spain Coach was removed from the Santiago Bernabeu bench in 2003, having claimed two League titles and two Champions Leagues since his appointment full-time in 1999, among other trophies.

“It’s very difficult to win the Champions League,” AS reports Del Bosque saying in an interview with Telediario.

“We had good luck and good players and the situation of the club was favourable.

“Without being conceited or arrogant I think maybe if I had stayed we would have won more European Cups.”

Del Bosque was the trainer when Madrid won their ninth, in 2002, but it took 14 years for the 10th, La Decima, to be won, Madrid by then under Carlo Ancelotti.
