Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey and Napoli’s Spain international Raul Albiol are reportedly transfer targets for Valencia.
Super Deporte say sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch has been in Madrid to meet with agents, representatives and intermediaries, holing up in a hotel in the capital and then attending the Atletico Madrid-Celta Vigo Copa del Rey tie on Wednesday.
Thomas has been part of Pitarch’s reason for being in the capital, though the midfielder didn’t play as Atletico lost to Celta in the quarter-finals.
Pitarch has been trying to establish if a loan deal for Thomas is possible but Diego Simeone is said to want to keep the Ghanaian.
Valencia are also looking for a centre-back before the window closes on Monday and Albiol’s name has been mentioned but Napoli aren’t thought to be willing to lose the player in the middle of the season.
It’s possible Valencia return to the 30-year-old in the summer, Super Deporte add, when Albiol will be approaching the final year of his contract.
Jeremy Toulalan and Nicholas N’Koulou, of Monaco and Marseille respectively, are also floated as options for Valencia.
