Betis set to sign Damiao

Real Betis will reportedly announce the signing of Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao in the next few hours.

Damiao is a free agent after leaving Santos, and Marca claims he arrived in Seville on Sunday night, in the wake of Los Verdiblancos’ 1-1 draw with Real Madrid, to become Betis’ first January recruit.

The 26-year-old was considered one of the world’s best young strikers at Internacional, even representing Brazil squad at the 2012 Olympic Games and reportedly holding talks with Tottenham Hotspur.

However, he eventually joined Santos in 2014 and struggled to replace the goals scored by Neymar, who had joined Barcelona earlier that season.

Betis are also close to signing of Egypt centre-back Amro Tarek on loan until the end of the season.
