‘Torres future decided in days’

Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo says the future of Fernando Torres will be decided in the coming days, and there are no doubts over Jackson Martinez.

Cerezo was speaking at the Olive Tree of Peace event and was asked about a number of Atleti issues by the Press, starting with El Nino.

“The olive tree is the tree of peace and we have peace in the club, inside and out,” he said, AS reports, insisting there is no discord regarding Torres, whose loan deal expires in the summer, at the same point as his Milan contract.

“The coaches are working on the subject of Fernando and will be the ones to decide in the next few days.

“Jackson? No doubt he’s a great player but perhaps not in his best form. It’s clear that he wants to please and to score a lot of goals.

“He didn’t score the goals in the first half of the season and we hope everyone who didn’t score can do so in the second half.

“We didn’t score [against Celta Vigo] and it’s a good result, but Celta will be difficult at Vicente Calderon. They’re a great team and will want to win at our stadium.

“Sevilla? They’re a direct rival and a great contrast. We want to play well and win.

“The FIFA ban…we continue to work on the appeal and by Monday I think we have to present it. There’s no reason for either the sanction or the consequences.”
