Luis Suarez’s Copa del Rey ban stands, though the striker hasn’t travelled for Barcelona’s quarter-final against Athletic Bilbao anyway.
Barca confirmed on Wednesday that they were leaving the Uruguayan out of the squad to go to San Mames but had already lodged an appeal with the Sports Administrative Tribunal [TAD] against the punishment.
Suarez had already served one game of a two-game ban handed down for comments he made during the previous round’s Catalan derby with Espanyol, when it was claimed he called an opponent ‘a waste of space.’
It had been suggested Suarez would venture from Barcelona to Bilbao to take part in the match if his ban was lifted, Mundo Deportivo adds.
