Two-time Champions League winning Coach Otttmar Hitzfeld has criticised Zinedine Zidane’s appointment to the Real Madrid bench.
Zidane was on Monday confirmed as the successor to Rafa Benitez and Hitzfeld, who claimed the European Cup with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, questions the logic in the decision, comparing Zidane to Jurgen Klinsmann at Bayern and saying he’s ‘won the lottery.’
“It’s demented. Crazy! It’s an attempt by Florentino Perez to calm the situation,” Hitzfeld said, AS reports.
“The fans have their idol at the stadium and that will give a boost to the team, no doubt. Whether it is sustainable, we’ll see. The pressure is enormous.
“[Zidane] hasn’t shown anything as a Coach and now has to deal with the biggest stars in the world. Madrid is like a Ferrari. You have to take care of it to the smallest detail to make the most of its potential. It’s incredibly difficult.”
