Augusto in suspense, three out of Atleti?

Augusto Fernandez’s move from Celta Vigo to Atletico Madrid remains at a stalemate but three could leave Vicente Calderon.

Lucas, Guilherme Siqueira and Thomas Partey might all be allowed to find new clubs in January, Lucas and Thomas on loan and Siqueira permanently, though the left-back has cut off one of his options.

AS reports Siqueira’s decision to reject Benfica in the summer saw the Portuguese club target Barcelona youngster Alex Grimaldo and, having confirmed his arrival for next season, no longer have room for the Brazilian.

Lucas meanwhile has offers from Spain and abroad and could take one as he’s not likely to get past Diego Godin, Jose Gimenez or Stefan Savic in the centre of defence.

Thomas is behind Saul Niguez in the centre of midfield and with two additions expected – Augusto and Mattias Kranevitter – he’ll drop further down the pecking order even in light of Tiago Mendes’ broken leg.

Atletico and Celta are still deadlocked over Augusto, with Atleti wanting him to train with them on December 28 and Celta preferring to wait until after they play Athletic Bilbao on December 30.

Celta also have to come to an agreement with Velez Sarsfield for the other 50% of Augusto’s rights, and Augusto, though he wants to move, isn’t going to force the issue.
