Voro: Stage set for Neville

Salvador Voro believes the stage has been set for Gary Neville to embark on a successful reign at Valencia after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Barcelona.

Santi Mina’s late goal earned Los Che a point against the La Liga leaders and ensured the Englishman would begin his career at Mestalla on a positive footing, and the club legend is confident the side now have the necessary “foundations” on which to build.

“We did what we had to do and laid the foundations for improvements,” he said after the game.

“We had to play well if he had a chance of getting something against Barcelona. We played a difficult match and didn’t lose.

“We worked as a team and I explained to the players a few things about what we should’ve done and how we’d exploit [Barca], but not too much.

“We did a good job and picked up a point. [On Luis Suarez’s goal], I don’t know if it was offside or not, but I won’t go into it.”
