Berizzo: Celta must play better

Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Berizzo insisted Celta Vigo “must recover the type of football we played before” after Saturday’s 2-1 win against Sporting Gijon.

A late Nolito goal was needed for the Galicians to end a run of successive defeats after Sergio Alvarez’s poor clearance to Carlos Castro cancelled out Fabian Orellana’s opener, and the Coach admitted “it wasn’t our best game”.

”We controlled the match but didn’t create many chances,” he said after the game.

“Sergio [his mistake] installed nervousness that the match didn’t need. Then we found a goal from a mistake of theirs.

“For me, the party had to end 1-0. It wasn’t our best game, but in football you need to win and we did.

“Sporting weren’t easy opponents, but we began dominating possession once we got our rhythm going.

“The stage of the season made it necessary to win, but we will review the performance because it wasn’t our best game.

“We must recover the type of football we played before, but we won thanks to our defensive line.

“Perhaps Gustavo Cabral’s inclusion reinforced us in that aspect, but we need the ball to move faster in attack because we have to play better.”
