Real Madrid great Manuel Sanchis believes his former club “are playing better football” than Barcelona ahead of Saturday’s Clasico.
Los Blancos head into the Santiago Bernabeu showdown three points behind the Catalans, who are currently La Liga leaders, but the ex-defender – who played more than 500 matches for the capital giants over three decades – has been impressed by his hometown club this season.
“It's unpredictable. Madrid are playing better [football] than Barca, but a loss on Saturday would be rather dramatic for them,” he told Cadena COPE.
“[Casemiro] has gained enough confidence to play in a game like this. I would play with Casemiro, three other midfielders and two forwards.
“[Rafa] Benitez’s future will not be decided in this game.
“For football’s sake, the best thing would be that Messi plays, although it’s better for Real Madrid that he doesn’t.
“Of all Real Madrid and Barcelona’s players, Neymar is currently the best one.”
