Martinez ‘wants Banega at Everton’

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has reportedly asked the club to bring Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega to Goodison Park next season.

AS cites reports from local newspaper the Liverpool Echo that say Martinez, having become aware of Banega’s uncertain future at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, is keen on the Argentine.

Banega’s agent and Sevilla are discussing a new contract but though his representative recently said the club and player are on the same page, there’s little movement regarding a deal.

The former Valencia player has hit his stride under Unai Emery after an uncertain time at Mestalla and is one of Sevilla’s highest-paid players, but, AS notes, if it comes down to money then Los Rojiblancos are likely to lose out to their Premier League rivals.
