Celades seeking ‘important’ win

Spain Under-21 Coach Albert Celades believes a win over Georgia Under-21s would be ‘important’ for his team.

La Rojita meet their Georgian counterparts on Thursday evening in Almeria, a month after they won 5-2 in Tbilisi.

“We have to keep in mind we face a very good team, as we saw in the game in Georgia,” Celades said, AS reports.

“It’s true that it’s not easy to win 5-2 away from home but the reality is they’re a very good team with very good quality players, with concepts similar to ours.

“It’s important for us to win, to keep adding points, to stay close to the top of the group and our intention is to make the best effort to win the game.”

Celades’ side are third in qualifying Group 6, five points adrift of leaders Croatia, who have played a game more and who host Spain on Tuesday.

“We’re not interested in the Croatia game, we’re interested in the game against Georgia,” Celades insisted.

“We have a lot of time to recover players and prepare for the Croatia match. We haven’t picked a team for Croatia, and we haven’t decided anything.

“From Monday we’ve tried to prepare for Georgia in the best way and then from Thursday evening or the training session on Friday, we’ll begin to talk about Croatia.”
