La Roja unite for kit launch

Spain’s 24-man squad have unveiled their new home kit for Euro 2016, which showcases a “more classical and retro” look and feel.

The kit marks a return to blue shorts and black socks after La Roja’s recent all-red offering and will be debuted on Friday, when the side host England in Alicante.

Iker Casillas, fresh off receiving the Great Cross of the Royal Order of Sports Merit, began: “We’re here to win a fourth title.

“Everyone wants to win the Euros, and we’re going [to France] with the objective of winning it and doing our best.

“From the outside, we’re seen as champions. We’re seen to have a strong and solid team and sure to be among the favourites.

Andres Iniesta added: “Our style and way of doing things are what have led us to achieving great things.

“We’ll try to continue like this, although our style is down to the Coach.

“For me, my team are always the best. The team are going through a great spell, with great players.

“At the Euros, we want to defend our title and do well.”

From the team’s younger contingent, Alvaro Morata remarked: “We’re proud to be in this team.

“I watched them win things when I was growing up, and it’d be a dream to win this tournament.

David de Gea, meanwhile, preferred to take a closer look at the kit as he noted: “We’re the defending champions and we look forward [to defending it].

“The kit is more classical and retro, and hopefully luck is on our side.

New boy Nacho Fernandez concluded: “The level of competition is very high and there are very good players here.

“The style of the Spanish national team is well defined and hopefully the successes keep coming.”
