Athletic Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz admits he has been left frustrated by Vicente del Bosque’s hint that he is too old to play for Spain.
The 34-year-old scored his 100th goal for the Basques and 15th of the season in Thursday’s 5-1 victory over Partizan Belgrade, but he was again left out of La Roja’s squad for games against England and Belgium next week.
“Age is relative and can’t be generalised by a number to everyone,” he told Marca.
“Although I’m very proud to contribute to Athletic, I’ve always aspired to reach the top and wanted to contest competitions at other levels [referring to international stage].
“I’ve never spoken to [Del Bosque].”
