Rubi wants no fear Levante

New Levante Coach Rubi wants a team that isn’t afraid to try to win games, starting with the local derby against Valencia.

Los Che provide the first opponents for the new trainer, who was presented by Les Granotes on Wednesday evening after replacing Lucas Alcaraz.

“Thank you for the welcome. I’m proud to take on this challenge and very, very excited,” Rubi remarked after his introduction, AS reports.

“Life is capricious and [the derby] is one of the games that maybe all the world marks in the calendar. Front up to it and fight it.

“I give equal importance to having the ball as to pressing to win it back. The football will be attractive but it also has to be competitive.

“The first thing I have to do is detect the strengths of this team, where we are strongest, and then work with the players and make it suitable for a playmaker.

“January doesn’t worry me. What I’m interested in is the 23 players here now. The situation is perfectly salvageable.

“My idea is to work on everything. Then we can play direct but also use the counter-attack. We have to have alternatives.

“I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the fans. The fans are behind us and against the opponent, and in this case, it’s to our advantage.

“We want to play football in which we are the protagonists, and we will go [to Mestalla] to win.

“We want a team that will try their best and enjoy the match with the ball and without it. Players play because they love the ball. Don’t be afraid to try things and help the most.”
