Victor: Depor must remain humble

Victor Sanchez has reminded his Deportivo La Coruna players that “we can’t lose sight of humility” ahead of Saturday’s trip to Malaga in La Liga.

The Galicians are flying high in sixth place and travel to La Rosaleda having lost only one of their last nine away matches, but the Coach is nonetheless wary of his side’s upcoming opponents, despite their lowly position in the table.

“We face the match with maximum respect for Malaga. They have the capacity to bounce back [from their defeat to Valencia],” he said at a Press conference.

“It’ll be a very difficult match because the teams who are struggling have extra motivation to give a response.

“[Malaga] are very organised and have the potential to create many chances, something they’re struggling to do this season.

“We know that it takes time to adapt when there are changes made to the squad year on year.

“We’ve got to where we are with effort. We can’t lose sight of humility because then problems start to develop.

“We’re a team who will go for the win from the first minute until the last.

“We’re among the best teams in the League when it comes to creating chances and we’re also very good statistically when it comes to limiting our opponents to as few chances as possible.

“I’m delighted the performance of all the players. They’re all giving it their best shot and I can’t ask for more.”
