‘Celta’s blueprint? Quality & drive’

Eduardo Berizzo says Celta Vigo’s “quality and drive” eventually rose to the top in Sunday’s dramatic 2-1 win at Villarreal.

Nolito’s goal in the dying embers earned the Galicians a last-gasp victory after Denis Suarez had cancelled out Fabian Orellana’s opener, and the Coach paid tribute to his team for their never-say-die attitude.

“We’re happy to have beaten a team like Villarreal, who equalised, despite being a man down, but our quality and drive gave us the win,” he said after the game.

“We were punished for a lack of ambition via their equaliser [at the beginning of the second half], but in the end we responded.

“Our objectives will not change every seven days, even if we think we can beat anybody on any pitch because we’re a solid team who work hard and pose our opponents a lot of problems.”
